Clay Play Tutoring Session

Service Description

It’s time for a Clay Play Workshop at Our Sensory Farm! Let’s create a nature inspired work of art with Shannon and her farm friend, Maggi! First, learners will each receive a Clay Play Kit with all the materials and tools needed to set up their pottery workstation. Next, we will explore Our Sensory Farm and the Adventure Forest to collect and gather inspiration for our handmade ceramic serving plates! During our session, Maggi will share simple instructions while Shannon provides additional individual support. Once the pieces are assembled, we will choose from a variety of glazes to further decorate and customize our Nature Plates. Learners will have an opportunity to share their creations during our Artists’ Showcase towards the end of our session! All artwork will be left with Maggi so that it can be fired in a kiln. Pieces will be complete and ready for pickup or delivery approximately 3 weeks after our tutoring session. Learners will also be given an opportunity during our lunch break to reflect, record, note, doodle, remember, and share as we create entries in Farmventure Journals. This tutoring session is appropriate for We Play Learners ages 5 and up with all abilities. Activities, instruction, and level of support will be differentiated to meet the needs of individual learners. During this tutoring session, learners will have opportunities for practice and progress in the following areas: Planning - analyzing the steps to complete the task Organization - keeping belongings neat and accessible Task Initiation - estimating how long a task might take Attention - working until completion Metacognition - making changes according to situations and activities Working Memory - following multi-step directions Self-Control - making safe choices and avoiding harm to ourselves or others Flexibility - transitioning between activities Perseverance - decision making Please don't forget to pack lunch for your learner(s) along with a refillable water bottle! Dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes. Sunscreen and bug spray may also be a good idea as the weather gets warmer.
